This post is inspired by Health and Wellness: a journal by Brian Luke Seaward. He has other great books that are motivational and insightful. Also cool to listen to …
The purpose of the journal was to provide guidance and encouragement as you journey on your life path. (Whatever that is) It serves as a guide and a gentle reminder that while exploration is good (and encouraged) you shouldn’t get distracted from the path which is optimal health.
I love to journal (said no one ever). However, Journal writing is used and is a formidable technique to cope with stress. Psychologists and health educators alike use journal writing as a tool for self-awareness, self-exploration, and personal development.
Journaling will help you uncover some of the reasons that you think the way you do; it will help channel your energies in a way that is more conductive to optimal path in life. For example, sometimes you really just need to get thoughts, fears, hopes, and dreams out your head and onto paper. For me they become real when written. I feel an obligation to work on them.
Health and wellness are the cornerstones of virtually everything that we do and encounter such as the environment, politics, education, religion, the arts, and much more. Journal writing is insightful and is key to dealing and coping with stress.
While you’re writing a connection is made between the mind and soul, putting thoughts on paper makes the writer accountable. The thoughts become real, tangible, focused and concrete. You can develop a habit of cleaning your mind pf concerns and problems. When the issues are written down, not only is there a feeling of relief, but after insight takes place you can begin to solve the issue.
Journal writing opens the doors to your conscious mind and allows you to examine your health behaviors, what you are feeling, and where this journey has taken you in terms of your mental, emotional, and spiritual growth.
The first step in changing behavior is becoming aware of actions, and, more importantly, attitudes and values. Therefore, journaling about health and wellness is important.
The journal in particular allows for reflection and to reframe, or even acknowledge, your own way of thinking in terms of health and wellness. It has specific topics about health, wealth and just all around life situations. Then is gives you a task of writing about it. It asks you to examine your own health philosophy and to define what health and wellness means to you.and explain why health is important. When discovering the connection between examining non-health issues and state of wellbeing, I realized that health is often connected with everything.
Even how you can view your situation in the future. Think of it this way, if you don’t want to be inside your head why would I? Seriously though know about yourself , instead of going through motions is life changing. It also help the therapeutic relationship if you come in knowing how you work. You don’t know how many times I’ve heard “I don’t know why I’m like this”. You do though, you just haven’t taken the time to learn about the most important person, you.
So you know invest in yourself and spend some time up there in no mans land.
